Danusia Szumowski
Ms. Szumowski has a 20-year background in market research
and usability testing. As the founder of Test Kitchens, she has conducted
research projects for over 100 companies, ranging from start-ups and
non-profits to Fortune 500 companies in the US and Asia. Examples
of clients include Samsung, THX, Yahoo!, FujiFilm, and Honda . Earlier
in her career, Ms. Szumowski worked for Scientific Learning Corporation,
as head of their User Experience group. During that time, she developed
a rapid iterative testing / design process that allowed Scientific
Learning to quickly bring user-centered web-based applications to
market. She also headed up medical product design at GVO, a product
design firm based in Palo Alto, California, and built the market research
department at Alza Pharmaceuticals. Her overseas work included the
World Health Organization and A.I.D. in Africa and Asia to develop
products for illiterate audiences with a focus on understanding cultural
differences as they relate to compliance with medications and health
regimens. She studied neurophysiology at Stanford University and international
public health at Columbia University.
